The Pit Call records the communications between artists Daniel de Paula, Marissa Lee Benedict, and David Rueter who have collectively purchased a former Chicago Stock Exchange trading floor as material for a collaborative project before knowing what exactly that could lead to. The film reveals how collaboration within artistic practices comes about. An exchange of concepts and positions and the tools with which to accomplish this negotiation. The work questions what aspects of this process can be done by proxy, and what would be the ideal setting for this. A phone is where it begins.
